repurposed paintbrush flowers

I dont usually do tutorial posts, but we’ve been having so much fun making these coffee filter flowers i though i’d share these simple steps :)

Step 1: Use liquid watercolors to spray or dip coffee filters coffee filter flowers

step 2: let filters dry completely, then fold in half, then quarters.
snip a small triangle out of the center fold. coffee filter flowers

when you open then up they will look a bit like this. coffee filter flowers

step 3: crumple up each filter separately and then slide 4 filters onto an old paintbrush (leave about an inch of the brush on top). you can even use old pencils, sticks, pipe cleaners, etc….use any tape of choice to tightly attach the bottom part of the filters to the paintbrush. if you are doing this with kids this is the step they usually need help with.now you can fuss with the papers and make them look pretty :) coffee filter flowers

& thats all! make a bunch to create a beautiful spring bouquet. coffee filter flowers

remember when we were creating these in the studio with the kids last week? well now they are fired and look how lovely they look!

lots ond lots of autumn leaves in all sorts of beautiful colors. i’ve been brushing up on my pottery wheel skills too. what is it about clay that just draws us in??? more soon….

Dia de los Muertos for Kids!

Tomorrow is Halloween and the streets around our art center will be filled with lots of little pirates and monsters! We will have our doors open for the kids to come in and have some fun so I doodled up some Dia de los Muertos sugar skull coloring pages for the kids to color in with markers, crayons and watercolors.
